Markham deserves a star on the Hollywood (Canal) Walk of Fame

Atmosphere

The store has a vibe and the choice of music keeps the mood electrified. Based on the atmosphere of the store, I get the sense that they know who their customer is. The standard to which the store is maintained gives the store an attractive and welcoming feel. It looks like a good time and it is exactly that.

Customer Service

The friendly and helpful sales assistants add to the mood of the store. They also build a good rapport with the customer. This approach gives the customer a sense of comfort and immediately locks them in.

In addition, their knowledge of the product, fashion and style is impressive. You are given options - all of which are in the parameters of your personalised style. The sales assistants are also flexible, and this is where the knowledge of product storewide comes into play.

They can easily combine pieces from different departments to create a look that is satisfactory to you even if you’re plus-sized. They can be trusted.

The placement of the sales assistants in the different departments is absolutely superb. To ensure top-notch customer service, sales assistants are placed according to their knowledge of the product.

A few sales assistants need to be reshuffled because I did feel that some of them were in the wrong place.

“Store-in-store” experience

Markham Canal Walk has managed to pull off the “store-in-store” experience with the addition of GSTAR RAW. The flow from one store to the other is seamless – from the help of visual merchandising to the flow of mood.

It is effortless.

The only thing they failed to deliver is excellent service. If you enter G-STAR RAW through the Markhams store, the transition is disappointing. There is a lag in service. It felt as if there weren’t enough sales assistants for the number of customers present.

Point of sale

The point of sale is efficient. However, there were too many people behind the counter. It is also in vast contrast with the rest of the store – it was very untidy and stuck out like a sore thumb in that immaculate store.

Markham Canal Walk has all the makings of an award-winning movie but it’s still in editing and some of the scenes need to get cut. Hopefully on my next visit it will be a red carpet premiere.
