Markham Parow Centre is a fairy tale and when I say fairy tale, I’m talking about the evil stepmother.
The customer service in this store has managed to be both ghastly and non-existent. The sales assistants do not acknowledge customers and their private conversations seem far more important. Should you enter this store and they are having a “mother’s meeting”, believe that they will continue with it as if you’re not even there.
On my visit to this store, I was left with no option but to interrupt their moment as I was hunting for shoes. The interruption was not taken too kindly and if looks could kill, I’d be in my mansion in hell by now. They were visibly annoyed and their body language was asking me “how dare you ask us to do what we get paid to do?”.
The little assistance I had received was mediocre at best. The sales assistant that decided to take one for the team and assist me, went to check for my size and returned to inform me that they haven’t any. He, however, also returned with a look on his face that was most disturbing. I wasn’t sure if he’d suddenly fallen ill or just hated me that much. Furthermore, he did not even attempt to assist past this – didn’t check if any other stores had stock, nothing of the sort.
The condition of the store was no better than the service. The rails were overstocked and it looked like product was forced to fit. Clothes could be found in different areas unfolded and above this, the store was dusty. I left this store with a clogged nose and teary eyed, all side effects of dust.
The point of sale definitely fits in to its surroundings, it might even surpass it. There was dust everywhere and there were mountains of boxes behind the counter. This is definitely one of the most disappointing final impressions a store can give a customer.
The in-store experience at Markham Parow Centre certainly is not a Cinderella story. It’s more like a crime scene where the bodies of “a great shopping experience” and customer service can be found... MUTILATED.
